In the world of health and fitness coaching, the rise of GLP-1 medications has sparked a shift in how coaches approach their work. As more and more clients are taking these medications, it’s important for coaches to understand that they are not in the “GLP-1 world,” but rather in the “GLP-1 support world.”

According to Kate Solovieva, a Super Coach and PN’s Director of Community, coaches need to focus on supporting those who are on GLP-1s and seeking help, rather than trying to coach everyone on these medications. By honing in on this specific group of clients, coaches can make a real difference and help their business thrive.

To navigate the diverse landscape of GLP-1 clients, it’s important to recognize seven different types of clients, each with their own level of coaching readiness. From “The Honeymooner” who is content with their current results to “The Priced-Out” who is forced to quit due to financial constraints, each client type requires a tailored approach to coaching.

For example, with “The Ready-to-Quitter,” who is experiencing side effects and contemplating stopping the medication, coaches can suggest experiments like adjusting the dosage or trying smaller, more frequent meals to alleviate symptoms. For “The Muscle-Loss Risk,” coaches can emphasize the importance of protein intake and strength training to prevent muscle loss while on the medication.

Ultimately, the goal for coaches working with GLP-1 clients is to help them establish sustainable habits that will endure even after they come off the medication. By focusing on building strong foundations in nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle habits, coaches can empower their clients to maintain their results long term.
