How Chick-fil-A Helped Tom Carroll Lose 132 Pounds and Change His Life

When most people want to drop weight or meet a fitness goal, cutting out fast food is one of the first things to eliminate, but not for Tom Carroll. The 32-year-old credits Chick-fil-A for losing an astounding 132 pounds in 14 months and saving his life.

“Back before I was on my health journey, I would have never thought of a fast food restaurant as something that would be my engine for losing weight,” he exclusively tells us. “Fast food was the thing I would turn to because it was fun, easy, and delicious,” he says, but now it’s completely changed his life for the better.

Childhood Struggles and Weight Issues

Carroll’s struggle with weight started as a child, which hurt him in different ways, especially when it came to sports. Despite his desire to play youth football, weight limits based on age deterred him. The cycle continued into adulthood, with visits to the pediatrician highlighting his weight issues.

Embarrassment and shame led Carroll to hide his eating habits from his wife, sneaking out for late-night binges. However, a health scare and self-reflection prompted him to make a change.

The Role of Chick-fil-A in His Journey

Fast food had always been a part of Carroll’s life, but it was an unhealthy relationship until he committed to his weight loss. Discovering the healthy options at Chick-fil-A, he found a love for the Spicy Southwest Salad, which became his daily meal.

He made conscious choices to opt for healthier sides and grilled options at the restaurant, which helped him stay on track with his weight loss goals.

Despite challenges and setbacks, Carroll credits his daily routine of eating Chick-fil-A and the supportive community at his local restaurant for helping him stay focused and maintain his weight loss.

Planning his meals around the salad, Carroll ensures he gets the necessary nutrients while keeping his calorie intake in check. He also incorporated a gym routine of daily power walks to enhance his physical activity.
